How to Take Steps Toward Your Purpose

Sometimes God is very clear with His purpose for our life. He will occasionally reveal Himself in supernatural ways that are unmistakable. But not always. Nevertheless, God does not want our purpose to remain a mystery.

Many times we find ourselves in a state of paralyzed limbo because we aren’t certain of God’s next steps for us. So we stay put, doing nothing.

Does God have to reveal specific steps in order to for us to accomplish His will in our lives?

Not at all. We don’t need to know specific steps if we know the end goal. The end goal is this, “’For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘Plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future’” (Jeremiah 29:11).

We can claim this promise. That’s where our faith takes hold. In faith, we take a step toward that future as evidence of our belief in God’s promise.

What steps, you may ask? Steps that match up with Jesus’ teachings. When we stay rooted in the Word of God, we know what acts are consistent with His will and which are not.  Syncing our steps with Jesus’ teachings lights the path of God’s plan for our life.

How? What we couldn’t see from the last step will become perfectly clear as we approach the next one. We trust that even if God doesn’t reveal more than the next step, He will reveal the next step–even if that means blocking all other roads until it’s obvious.

The enemy may scatter obstacles along the way. But if our steps are in sync with God’s teachings, we can trust that what we perceive as a thorn on the path is actually just one bump on the stem of a beautiful rose.

Take a step of faith toward your purpose today.
